DIVAS REBELDES

Thanks to the blog Miss Cosillas I knew the book Divas Rebeldes written by Cristina Morató.

For those who still don't know the book, I'll tell you that it relates the biography of 7 noted women (María Callas, Coco Chanel, Wallis Simpson, Eva Perón, Barbara Hutton, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy).

So far I had'nt read anything written by Morató and, although I tend to run away when I see this type of tittles, I finally decided to start reading it as I already told you here.

I've been captivated by the story of these women. The book relates details of their lives that were unknown to me and that have surprised me. Coco Chanel, a visionary, with a strong personality and the paradox in Barbara Hutton's life who, in spite of having a a wealthy life with plenty of abundance she felt empty and poor most of the time.

I don't want to reveal more info, just wanna invite you to read the book because I'm pretty sure that you'll be gripped by it.

Para las que no sepáis de qué va, os diré que el libro narra la biografía de 7 grandes mujeres como fueron María Callas, Coco Chanel, Wallis Simpson, Eva Perón, Barbara Hutton, Audrey Hepburn y Jacquelin Kennedy.

Hasta ahora no había leído nada de Morató y, aunque suelo huir de libros con un título similar a éste, decidí hacerme con un ejemplar, tal y como os hice saber aquí.

La historia de cada una de estas mujeres me ha cautivado. El libro cuenta detalles de sus vidas que yo desconocía y que me han llamado muchísimo la atención. Me ha encantado la personalidad fuerte de la visionaria Coco Chanel y la paradoja en la vida de Barbara Hutton quien, pese a tener una vida llena de riquezas y abundancia, se sintió muy pobre y vacía.

No os quiero desvelar mucho más, tan sólo invitaros a que lo leáis porque os enganchará desde la primera página.

BLACK + YELLOW

Usually I don't pair black and yellow. When I was a child, yellow was my favourite colour, although my sisters laughed at me saying that yellow was the colour of the black luck. I don't know if I was influenced by them but the truth is that I don't have too many yellow garments in my wardrobe.

Leaving the childhood reminiscences behind, I've been surfing through the internet and I've come across some looks of bloggers and celebrities wearing black and yellow. Actually their looks are very smart so I'm just thinking why not...

La combinación negro y amarillo no la suelo utilizar. Recuerdo que, cuando era pequeña y mis hermanas me preguntaban cuál era mi color favorito, siempre contestaba 'el amarillo'. Ellas me miraban sorprendidas y riéndose de mí me contestaban 'pero si el amarillo es el color de la mala suerte'... No sé si quizá influenciada por mis hermanas o no, pero el amarillo no es un color que abunde en mi armario -por no decir que no tengo ninguna prenda en amarillo.

Dejando atrás reminiscencias de la infancia, mirando por internet looks de bloggers y celebrities, he visto que la combinación negro y amarillo es muy elegante, así que estoy pensando ¿por qué no?

WHITE JEANS

The other day, when I was cleaning my wardrobe, I discovered my white jeans. When warm temperatures arrive I like wearing them. They pair with everything and they're very comfortable, as well.  

El otro día mientras hacía limpieza de mi armario vi mis tejanos blancos. Cuando llega la primavera me gusta ponérmelos porque, aparte de ser comodísimos, van con todo.

Dr. MARTENS

Who did'nt have a pair of Dr. Martens in the 90's? I loved them to give a military touch to my looks. Also, this kind of shoes were very comfortable and flexible so I could wear them every day without hurting my feet.

Now they are in fashion again and so I'm very happy. As always celebrities have made them fashionable. Jessica Alba, Chloë Sevigny, Agyness Dey, Drew Barrymore, Alexa Chung, Avril Lavigne, Sarah Jessica Parker or Robert Pattinson wear them often (for daily looks or even when they attend a party).

¿Quién en los años 90 no llevó unas Dr. Martens? Yo por lo menos sí, me encantaba ese rollo militar que daba a mis looks. Además, estos zapatos eran muy cómodos y flexibles, por lo que podías llevarlos a diario sin castigarte los pies.

Y ahora que vuelven a llevarse estoy supercontenta. Como siempre, las celebrities las han vuelto a poner de moda. Jessica Alba, Chloë Sevigny, Agyness Dey, Drew Barrymore, Alexa Chung, Avril Lavigne, Sarah Jessica Parker o Robert Pattinson las lucen a menudo, ya sea para sus looks diarios o para presentarse a una fiesta.

Actually Dr. Martens are very versatile and pair with leggins, skinny jeans, shorts or short skirts, parkas to stress the military touch... there're plenty ways to combine the Dr. Martens for both formal looks or rock ones.  

Apart from the classical Dr. Martens, now there're more models available. In Spartoo you can find the boots in different colours (from simple colours to loud colours), different prints (with flours, imitation-denim print...), with different heights, and even wedges shoes and flats.

Y es que las Dr. Martens son muy versátiles y permiten diversos looks. Con leggins, skinny jeans, con shorts o faldas cortas, con parkas para acentuar el rollo militar… hay miles de formas de combinar las Dr. Martens, ya quieras restar seriedad a un look o prefieras marcar el estilo rockero.

TRENCH COATS

If last week I told you that one of my favourite garments is the parka, today I tell you that I also love trench coats. And now is the perfect moment to wear them.  

Si la semana pasada os comentaba que una de mis prendas favoritas es la parka, hoy os digo que otra prenda que me parece ideal para esta estación del año es el trench coat.
